Description:

 

Company is seeking a seasoned Production Test Engineer (PTE) for employment in our Dallas, TX offices.  Company is a world supplier of small-form-factor pluggable optical telecommunications transceivers ranging from 100Mbs to 100Gbs. The PTE position will increase and enhance test engineering resources addressing our rapidly expanding portfolio of products, many of which are also designed here. The PTE must be innovative and self-motivating, able to work on multiple projects with minimal supervision in a small team, shared lab environment.

Primary responsibilities include the design, programming, fabrication and documentation of test equipment and software, along with ongoing daily support once deployed.  Establish information systems and databases to support the production operation.  Provide review and guidance to the development engineering groups to better implement new product test requirements into product design and the manufacturing environment.

 

 

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Integration of test equipment hardware and software
  • Development of Test Plans and Hardware and Software Requirements Specifications in conjunction with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production
  • Provide test philosophy input to design engineering for manufacturability
  • Procurement, installation and configuration of test instrumentation, hardware, software
  • Design and development of production test equipment with emphasis on Safety, Robustness, and Serviceability
  • Development of software to run tests according to test plans and gather production data for analysis
  • Investigate test issues and incorporate corrective actions as required in conjunction with Design Engineering and Production Teams
  • Improvement and optimization of existing production test stations and processes to drive down test times and increase yields

 

 

Requirements

 

  • BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with practical hands-on electrical engineering skills experience
  • Production Test Engineering experience relating to the automated testing of electronic assemblies
  • Strong test and measurement automation experience with LabVIEW (CLAD, CLD, or CLA a plus)
  • Experience with RS232, GPIB, and USB control of instrumentation
  • Experience with telecommunications protocols and standards is preferred
  • Experience creating verbal, written, and pictorial documentation of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to work with other engineers and technicians in a small team, shared lab environment
